Bandung, May 2026 — A team from the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Risk Prediction (PRISM) Center of Excellence, together with the Center for Mathematical and Statistical Modeling (PPMS) of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), conducted an academic visit to the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics (FSKM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia, on 6–9 May 2026. The visit was part of the ITB EQUITY – World Class University Post-Doctoral Program, funded by the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) under the EQUITY Program (Contract No. 4298/B3/DT.03.08/2025), with Post-Doctoral Fellow Dr. Fathimah Al-Ma’shumah, S.Si., M.Si. and Principal Investigator Prof. Novriana Sumarti, Ph.D.

The visit aimed to broaden academic, research, and international-program cooperation between PRISM ITB and FSKM UMT—one form of the collaborative activity involving international partners that constitutes an expected output of the postdoctoral program. The delegation was received directly by Dr. Ilyani Abdullah, Deputy Dean (Research and Talent) of FSKM UMT, together with the faculty’s academic members.

The program of activities included a welcoming session and discussion with FSKM UMT leadership, an introduction of academic members and their research fields, a presentation of the PRISM ITB profile, information on the International Modelling Workshop (IMW), discussion of the summer course and student internship programs, a research mentoring session with Prof. Che Mohd Imran Che Taib (the program’s international partner), and a discussion of potential research collaborations.

The discussions were highly interactive and enthusiastic on both sides. UMT expressed interest in participating in the upcoming events held by PRISM/PPMS ITB, sending students for internships at PRISM ITB, and sending around 10–20 students to join any upcoming university visit or summer course program. Several joint-research opportunities were also identified, including Bayesian deep learning and reinforcement learning (Dr. Hassilah Salleh), climate risk using stochastic modelling (Dr. Mukminah Darus), machine learning and data analytics (Dr. Ummu ‘Atiqah Mohd Roslan), drug modelling (Dr. Shalela), and epidemiology (Dr. Chong Nyuk Sian).

As a follow-up, Dr. Mukminah Darus expressed interest in collaborating on climate risk and stochastic modelling. The visit is expected to serve as a foundation for sustained cooperation through joint research, student exchange, internships, summer courses, international conferences, and international scholarly publications—while strengthening ITB’s international recognition in line with the spirit of the World Class University program.

About the Program. The Post-Doctoral EQUITY – World Class University ITB Program for Fiscal Year 2025–2026 is a program aimed at strengthening ITB’s international recognition, funded by LPDP under the EQUITY Program. The research activities and international collaborations carried out through this program also support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
