The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Gadjah Mada University organized a Colloquium in Computational Mathematics with the theme “Research and Publication: Pathways from Research Design to Journals” on Monday, January 26, 2026. This event was held in a hybrid format from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM WIB, taking place in Meeting Room 1, 3rd Floor, Department of Mathematics UGM, and attended online by participants from various institutions.
On this occasion, Dr. Ikha Magdalena, M.Si, a researcher from Predictive Risk Simulation and Modeling (PRISM) at Bandung Institute of Technology, attended as the keynote speaker. In her presentation, Dr. Ikha shared practical experiences and strategies on how to design strong research and develop it to the point of being suitable for publication in reputable scientific journals.
The material presented covered important stages in the research process, ranging from problem formulation and research design, selecting the appropriate methods, to writing strategies and journal selection. The discussion also highlighted challenges often faced by researchers, especially young researchers, in getting published in national and international journals.
This activity was moderated by Chyntia Meininda Anjanni, S.Mat, and attended by students, lecturers, as well as the general public interested in the fields of mathematics, computation, and scientific research. Participant enthusiasm was evident from the actively conducted discussion sessions, both from in-person and online participants.
Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the research-to-publication pathway and be motivated to produce high-quality and impactful scientific work.
