The Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Risk Prediction (PRISM) at Bandung Institute of Technology attended the invitation to the National Mathematics Seminar organized by the Student Association of the Mathematics Study Program (HMPS Mathematics) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Halu Oleo University (UHO). The event was held on Monday, October 13, 2025, with the theme “Mathematics and AI: A Bridge to the Era of Industry and Innovation — Mathematics as the Foundation, AI as the Accelerator.”
In this activity, PRISM ITB played a role through the presence of Prof. Dr. Edy Soewono, a researcher at the Center for Mathematical Research and Simulation (P2MS) and also a member of PRISM ITB, who acted as the main resource person. His presence is part of PRISM ITB’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of academic capacity and scientific literacy in educational institutions across various regions of Indonesia.
In the material presentation session, Prof. Dr. Edy Soewono delivered a comprehensive explanation regarding the fundamental role of mathematics in underpinning the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He emphasized that various mechanisms in AI—from mathematical modeling, algorithm formulation, optimization processes, to data analysis—rely on a strong mathematical scientific framework. In addition, he also explained how the integration of mathematics and AI can become an accelerator for industrial innovation in the era of digital transformation.
This event was hosted by Prof. Dr. Edi Cahyono as the moderator, who facilitated the discussion and interaction between the speakers and seminar participants. The activity was attended by students, lecturers, researchers, and practitioners who showed high enthusiasm for the development of mathematical research and its application in advanced technology.
PRISM ITB’s involvement in this seminar reflects the institution’s ongoing efforts to expand the dissemination of knowledge, strengthen national academic networks, and support the improvement of the quality of education and applied mathematics research in Indonesia. PRISM ITB hopes that activities like this can further strengthen inter-institutional collaboration in order to advance innovation based on science and technology.
